- 1932
- K. Schlotmann, F. Polchau and W. Kummer found "Stromschienen und Apparatebau GmbH“, "Stromag GmbH“ for short.
- 1945
- SIME Industrie (later Stromag France) develops the first electromagnet drum brake.
- 1972
- Stromag AG opens its first US subsidiary, Stromag Inc, founded by J. Albrecht with majority ownership by Stromag AG. Stromag Inc supplies the US market clutches, drives, couplings and compact disc brakes for light utility, electric, and specialty vehicles.
- 1983
- SIME Industrie develops their first hydraulic brake for emergency service.
- 1985
- SIME Industrie commences supply of disc brakes for Wind Turbines.
- 1993
- Stromag acquires the "Kupplungs- und Bremsenwerk Dessau GmbH"
- 2000
- Stromag AG acquires the world market leader for industrial disc brakes - SIME Industrie, La Guerche, France. The cooperation leads to the development of an automatic wear compensating system for disc brakes“
- 2006
- Stromag AG establishes SIME Corporation in Dayton, OH to serve the North American markets for industrial markets and expand the capability to offer custom engineered products.
- 2007
- Stromag AG delivers it’s 50,000th disc brake for wind turbines.
- 2011
- Stromag Group acquired by GKN Land Systems.
